"Why should I use Facebook Ads?"

February 24, 20243 min read

This is a great question, because the social media giant has gotten a bad rep in recent days. With the creator being brought before governmental scrutiny and bad press, you may be wondering, "Why bother?" But, there's still a lotta life left in Facebook, and a lot more pull than people realize. So, here are some reasons you should consider investing in Facebook Ads.

Facebook has the largest user base

#1. Three Billion Users on the Platform

Yes, ok, I've heard the same thing -- That it's mostly used by people around forty, but guess what? Those are the people with stable jobs who can afford products! Plus, there are plenty of twenty to thirty something's on there too. And with 3 Billion people on the social media platform, you gotta know that a lot of siblings, cousins, parents, grandparents and all their friends. Facebook is the platform they connect on, and for good reason. Which leads us to #2...

#2. People Connect Here

Facebook Connects People

So, why is Facebook the place they connect? Because the platform makes it easy to stay in contact. From messenger to groups, Facebook lets you create the experience to be as personal or impersonal as you want it to be... And people love that. Even when they hear things like, "They're tracking your every move." Users may think about leaving, but all their friends are on there, plus the years and years of uploaded pictures (even the duck face selfies), saved links and videos, celebrities they follow, and their support group has a chat on Tuesdays they just can't miss -- which makes it VERY hard to leave. And with those connections, advertisers get...

#3. Accurate Audience Targeting

Facebook has Accurate Audience Targeting for ads

Yes, Facebook is tracking everything users like, look at, and visit through their platform -- Which allows pinpoint accurate targeting for ads!

Need to find a 32 year old housewife from Silverton, Colorado who likes to cook vegan and dreams of having a camper? You got it. Want to find the CEO of a company who spends the weekends in Vegas and plays golf? Here he is.

And it can get more refined than that, a lot more. With targeting that can find potentially a million copies of the company's ideal avatar, it's no wonder marketers like to utilize its capabilities for ads strategy. But it's not just Facebook, you also get...

#4. The Other Monster Platform - Instagram

Facebook Owns Instagram

If you've not heard until now, Facebook bought Instagram in 2012. And lucky for us they did, because that means Facebook ads (now under their parent company Meta) also run on Instagram. That means 2.4 billion more people are a part of your targeted audience.
(By the way, that's more than TikTok at only 1 billion)
More bang for your buck! But that's still not the end of it, because Facebook also has the...

#5. Facebook Audience Network

Facebook has an Audience Network of Connected Sites and Apps

Facebook also connects to an external network of apps and websites to display ads. These ads, managed by Facebook, still target just like they do on the platform, but on an outside site.

For example, Bob loves to play solitaire on break. After about five minutes, he's shown an ad targeted to him (his interests) from Facebook about a new time management clock. He clicks the ad and is taken to the site where he can buy the clock.

Here's a short video describing how Facebook's Audience Network works.

Now that's REACH!

Facebook Connects Around the World

In Short,

Facebook (or Meta) has the best connectivity, targeting, and reach for a business' audience. It goes above and beyond to make sure your ads reach exactly who you want them to. You may say, "What about Google? Linked In? TikTok? X?" Well, that is a subject for another post my friends, on another day, but here's a graph to help you see where people are spending most of their online time.

What I hope you take from this is the opportunity to build a brand with an audience who understands and supports your vision, because the passion that inspired you to create your product will resonate with others as well.
